I already know what you are thinking? I don’t even know what that word means let alone whether or not I need it in my skin care routine. But guess what… you probably do know what it means and you definitely want it in your skin care routine.
This ingredient, “DMAE Bitartrate,” is a shortened term for “Dimethylethanolamine,” or “Dimethylaminoethanol.” It is also often shortened to just DMAE. This is an element in the B Vitamin choline family. If you have ever taken dietary supplements, you have also seen it on the ingredient list there, as it is associated with improving mental alertness.
In addition to reportedly improving various brain functions, we also see DMAE in skin care products, linked to some amazing benefits. This is usually found in creams, lotions, and other types of skin care products. This is an ingredient that has been very effective in anti-aging skin care products.
Some of the Benefit of DMAE are:
When Arachidonic Acid is produced, it creates pain and inflammation. When cells try to stop the production of this acid, they are put under great stress. When DMAE is used, it can help remove the stress from the cells. In effect, DMAE creates a protective barrier around the cell structure. This can help make your skin appear to be more radiant and firmer.
If you notice broken blood vessels in your skin or discoloration, DMAE can help repair those problems as well.
The term “radical free damage” is the terms that shall not be spoken as we get older. It is directly associated with many of the natural signs of aging, and, you guessed it, DMAE can also help protect our skin from this damage when it is part of our regular skin care routine.
Unlike some skin care ingredient, it is rare to see someone see any type of side effects when DMAE is in their skin care products. Even so, we recommend that whenever you are making a big change to your skincare routine, consult with a dermatologist before using them. You never want to overdo it, so the doctor will be more familial with other ingredients in your skin care routine and tell you how they could possibly interact with each other.
